About The Classes

My teaching philosophy focuses on creating a safe community based environment where female participants of all ages and dance abilities have an opportunity to learn how to belly dance, Meet like minded people and have fun whilst getting fit.

I teach various styles of Cabaret Oriental (popularised version which is full of glamour yet entertaining classy skillful and dynamic).

There are optional workshops for those who want learn more as well as optional Performance opportunities for budding showgirls and a social outing is organised at the end of the block of classes (all welcome)

Coin hip belts & props are provided for all to wear and return.

The Healthy Benefits

Belly dancing can be great for health and fitness as it is a low impact firm of exercise that includes strengthening toning and cardiovascular exercise. Its great for the joints and promotes correct posture and alignment, it's great for our core (belly, hips, bum) helping with all round health of the spine. Adding flexibility in the body. It may be beneficial for people suffering with fibromyalgia, Polycystic ovarian syndrome (pcos) arthritis obesity stress depression and self esteem issues.

A one hour belly dance class releases endorphins (feel good hormones) and may help burn over 250 calories. Focusing on certain movements and working on coordination helps to focus and train the mind. Great for people with racing thoughts anxiety and may help combat anxiety attacks.

What to wear -

Anything you feel comfortable dancing exercising in. Bare feet or soft dance shoes.
